I bought the smart hub 6 to replace a home hub 5 in the hope that my wifi coverage would improve. I bought the home hub 5 to replace an ageing netgear n600 router in the hope that my wifi coverage would improve. It did in both cases. In both instances my wifi coverage and speed improved dramatically. I was able to get rid of the range extenders which are a bit hit and miss, and work direct to the router all over the house. Our house is 200 years old, over four floors, covers over 3000 square feet and is a very strange shape! Wifi is now in the cellar and on the top floor and at speeds which can be used for streaming high quality video. Like a lot of people, the wii hub sits in the hall of our house next to the master socket. It's under the stairs and there are a lot of thick walls in the way and yet it still works. As its 'on display' in the hall I also wanted something that didn't look like a prop from a star wars movie, and not too big. This fits the bill perfectly.Read full review

The BT smart hub is pretty good, it provides decent coverage and it's fantastic if you have Fibre Broadband. However if you don't have Fibre, this is still a decent upgrade, my download speed had actually increased by almost 20% due to the stronger signal being put out by the router.

The wireless range is so much stronger than my old router, and seems to be a more stable signal throughout the house, would recommend thus product.

Bought a new Hub 6 at roughly half the BT update price; arrived promptly and in good condition. I like the fact that with Hub 6 you can separate the 2.5 and 5 signals if you want to and, perhaps more importantly as it keeps installation to a minimum, you don't need an Openreach modem with this version. In working I found it's wifi signal a smidge more powerful than the Hub 5 it replaced in that more 'blobs' appeared in the icon on my phone in distant parts of the house. And because of the direct connection to the phone point the download speed has increased marginally (extra 4 mb/s). Hub 6 is a bit bigger than Hub 5 and the WPS button has been placed on the side so that you no longer accidentally operate it getting the password card out of its slot. Overall I'm pleased with the new Hub 6 and considering now whether to get the BT Whole House wifi kit.... And so it goes on!Read full review
